About Me

Hi! I’m Linden (they/he), a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Philadelphia. I earned a Master of Social Work from the University of Pennsylvania in 2006 and have held a clinical license in Pennsylvania since 2014.

I began my career 20 years ago at a community-based healthcare organization serving individuals living with co-occurring medical, mental health, and substance use concerns. Later, I served as a clinical supervisor overseeing a team of behavioral health and social service providers. I have a decade of experience working with LGBTQ+ and questioning adults. I specialize in providing gender-affirming therapy to transgender, nonbinary, gender expansive, and gender non-conforming people. I also enjoy working with folks struggling with social anxiety.

As a social worker, my training emphasizes the powerful role that social and environmental factors play in mental health. Therapy doesn’t happen in a vacuum, and I believe it’s impossible to provide effective therapy without considering the whole person. Race, class, gender, sexual orientation, neurodivergence, disability, body size, and other aspects of personal identity shape my clients’ lived experiences in crucial ways.

In addition to my clinical experience, I’ve advocated for the rights and well-being of marginalized communities in both nonprofit and government settings. My professional background includes roles promoting access to reproductive and sexual healthcare, HIV/AIDS care, and environmental justice.

My Approach

My therapeutic orientation is Humanistic, focusing on what truly matters to you in the here-and-now and tapping into your inherent ability to grow. I blend talk therapy with solution-focused techniques to provide relief from your symptoms and help you navigate daily life. My clients often tell me that previous experiences with therapy involved lots of listening and affirmation without being challenged or directly confronting their problems. If you choose to work with me, your goals will be the focus of treatment, and I'll check in often to make sure if we're on the right track. I’ll also likely ask you to do some work outside of our sessions.

I frequently integrate Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) into more traditional talk therapy. This approach helps my clients identify what's most important to them in life and take values-based action, even in the face of anxiety, depression, and other barriers. ACT can be a great fit for someone looking for concrete tools and a clearer path forward. Folks struggling with anxiety may benefit from Exposure Response Prevention Therapy (ERP). ERP is a structured, evidence-based treatment for anxiety disorders. If you've been to therapy before and "just talked” about your anxiety without results, ERP may be effective.
