About Linden

Hi! I’m Linden (they/he), a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and psychotherapist. I earned a Master of Social Work from the University of Pennsylvania in 2006 and have held a clinical license in Pennsylvania since 2014.

I provide LGBTQIA+ and gender-affirming therapy, as well as treatment for common mental health concerns including depression, anxiety, relationship concerns, and self-esteem issues.

I began my career 20 years ago at a community-based healthcare organization serving individuals living with co-occurring medical, mental health, and substance use concerns. Later, I served as a clinical supervisor overseeing a team of behavioral health specialists and social service providers. I have a decade of experience working with LGBTQIA+ and questioning adults.

As a social worker, my training emphasizes the powerful role that social and environmental factors play in mental health. Therapy doesn’t happen in a vacuum, and I believe it’s impossible to provide effective therapy without considering the whole person. Race, class, gender, sexual orientation, neurodivergence, disability, body size, and other aspects of personal identity shape my clients’ lived experiences in crucial ways.

In addition to my clinical experience, I’ve advocated for the rights and well-being of marginalized communities in both nonprofit and government settings. My professional background includes roles promoting access to reproductive and sexual healthcare, HIV/AIDS care, and environmental health.

I’m a member of the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH).

My Approach

I blend talk therapy with solution-focused techniques to provide relief from your symptoms and help you navigate daily life. My clients often tell me that previous experiences with therapy involved lots of listening and affirmation without being challenged or directly confronting their problems. Therapy is never linear, but you should feel you’re making progress toward your goals. If you choose to work with me, your goals will be the focus of treatment, and I'll check in often to make sure we're on the right track and therapy is working for you. I may ask you to do some work outside of our sessions.

My therapeutic approach is Humanistic, focusing on you and your needs in the here-and-now. I frequently integrate Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) into my work. This helps my clients identify what’s most important to them in life and take action, even in the face of anxiety, depression, and other barriers. ACT can be a great fit for someone looking for concrete tools and a clearer path forward. Folks struggling with anxiety may benefit from Exposure Response Prevention Therapy (ERP). ERP is a structured, evidence-based treatment for anxiety disorders. If you've been to therapy before and "just talked” about your anxiety without results, ERP may be effective.
